Our CEO Tasha is big on natural and essential oils. They have so much great benefits. An essential oil is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds from plants. Essential oils are also known as volatile oils, ethereal oils, aetherolea, or simply as the oil of the plant from which they were extracted, such as oil of clove. An oil's innate ability to soften and condition, when used on the hair, also provides a hydrating effect (the scalp is constantly producing oil that travels from root to tip to protect the hair). This oil protects the hair and makes it smoother, softer and less frizzy. Hot oil treatments have been used for years.
Hot oil treatments is the process of when warm oil is added to wet or dry hair. The heat from the hot oil does wonders by making the hair cuticles expand so they can retain more oil. Hot oil hair care treatments are a moisture-retaining tool that prevents hair from looking dull. Your hair will be awesomely moisturized! Hot oil treatments are also useful for helping to stimulate blood flow, as well as helping with hair growth, and they provide many benefits to help deal with common hair care and styling issues such as dandruff, dry scalp, frizziness, moisture and much more.
Our CEO's Method: Many people apply hot oil treatments different. You can decide to use as is or heat it. If you choose to heat your oil before applying it to your hair and scalp, follow these directions. Place your oil in an applicator bottle, that is safe for heating. Then put your applicator bottle in a bowl of hot water. We do not recommend a microwave, due to studies it will kill the nutrients and vitamins in it. Make sure to let the oil cool off before applying to your hair and scalp to prevent from burning yourself.
Our CEO has done it a few ways, the most effective way is before she washes. She applies our Pistachio Hair Wonders' Hot Oil Blend on her edges, blonde parts and especially on her ends, not washing her hair. These are the sections of her hair, which need the most treatment, due to bleaching. Leave it one for 5-30 minutes under the Hair Steamer. Always apply to parts of hair that are most damaged. It is a personal preference on how often to practice hot oil treatments, we recommend weekly or bi-weekly. It depends on the the damage or the moisture that is needed. The reason she applies the hot oil before washing is simple.
Your hair has its natural oils it produces. The combinations of your natural oil and our hot oil are beyond amazing. I have seen others do hot oils after they deep condition, but in her experience, she can't speak for others, it's a waste. We will explain why, oils are very heavy, and if it is not done correctly can leave your hair heavy and oily. Hot oils should be washed out. When doing a deep conditioner you rinse out with cold water to seal all the vitamins and nutrients in. If you do a hot oil after you do your deep conditioner you have to wash again. Does it make sense now? Your washing out everything you just put into your hair.
Key Note: When doing the LOC or LCO Method regular oils are used I have rarely heard anyone say I use a hot oil.
Hot oils usually have a very potent smell. Many do not like strong smells left in their hair. This is why usually soft smelling oils are used. For example coconut, jojoba or sweet almond. Again it is a personal preference if chosen. Hot oil treatments can repair damage and replenish what you are missing. Our CEO does her treatments weekly due to her dry hair and to maintain her bleached blonde hair.
